The Municipality of Esquimalt will be hosting 2 Community Forums at the Archie Browning Sports Centre. The first will be on the evening of Wednesday, April 23rd ( 7 to 10 pm) and a second forum will be held the afternoon of Saturday, April 26th (1 to 4 pm). The community forums will consist of facilitated sit-down table top discussions for each of the eight sector topics. Participants are being asked to provide input on a series of goals, strategies and actions that they feel would help each sector flourish in Esquimalt. Sector backgrounder reports and surveys will also be available online at www.esquimalt.ca beginning April 14th. Please see attached poster for complete details.

The Township of Esquimalt will be hosting two community forums to gain public input into local economic development priorities and opportunities.

What: Economic Development Community Forums

Where: Lounge, Archie Browning Sports Centre, 1151 Esquimalt Road

When: Wednesday April 23rd, 2014, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday April 26th , 2014 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

An online survey and sector backgrounders are also available here. Online surveying will close on May 10th, 2014.

Over the past year roundtable sessions were conducted with representatives from small business, tourism, development, education and training, ship repair and defence, environment, arts and culture, and health and wellness. Information from the roundtable and the community forums will be used to develop an Economic Development Strategy, which Esquimalt Council has identified as one of its strategic priorities.

The community forums will consist of facilitated sit-down table top discussions for each of the eight sector topics. Each table top discussion will be limited to 45 minutes of conversation based on the supplied sector backgrounder report and survey. No sign-up is necessary.
